Marriage and Parenthood in the Czech Republic in New Economic Conditions

This thesis deals with the relation between marriage and parenthood in the Czech Republic. The main object is to explore changes in the family behavior of young generations and to analyze the related demographic processes of fertility and nuptality. Special attention is paid to marital, extramarital and premarital fertility. The thesis searches for the answer of the question if the marital surroundings are still unique for the child upbringing or if the economic and value changes of the society after 1989 broke the traditional family formation. Another important object is to perform a cluster analysis. Czech districts are divided into the clusters, which are made to describe the current situation. The last part demonstrates the results of the quantitative survey, which helps to find out the public attitudes about family life.
First marriage rate and two-parent families household in the historical context of the Czech Republic

The final thesis is focused on changes of familial habits of population with emphasis on married life. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the development of marriages from the demographic point of view. Attention will be brought to the progress of first marriages and to the quantity of complete families. The thesis will also cover the classification of demohraphic phenomenon on the basis of chosen indicators. The last part of the thesis includes the cohort analysis which is based on gender, age, year of marriage and marial status.

The thesis is focused on a family behavior in the Czech lands during past six decades. A reader learns the meaning and function of the family. Further attention is paid to fertility behavior with the emphasis on marital and extramarital fertility. This task answers the question whether the Czech society still respects classic family behavior, first wedding and after that a baby, using the theoretical background and data from the Czech Statistical Office. Supported by the data analysis we can recognize that the conservative behavior subsides. Influence of women income respectively the highest reached educational level has not been demonstrated.
Influence of Family Policy on the Development of Demographic Processes Focused on Pardubice Region

The object of this essay is to examine the development of family policy and its effect on changes in demographic behavior of the inhabitants in the Czech Republic and the Pardubice Region during the period from 1989 to present. The first chapter describes the institution of the family and forms of family policy at the national and regional level. The theoretical part is followed by the second chapter, which analyzes the individual subsidies of the state to support families with children. It also includes a graphical representation of indicators describing trends of natality, fertility, nuptality and divorcity which may be affected by the government action. The last part contains an analysis of empirical research, which verifies the results of the previous chapters in practice. By the results, solutions to the current situation are suggested.
Changes in family behavior of young people since 1989

The main subject of this thesis is examining the current state of marital behavior of young people in the Czech Republic and it's development after 1989, focusing on the growing number of single households and the related phenomenon singles. The work is based on the first part of the empirical data, particularly demographic data on family behavior. It highlights the impact of the second demographic transition on the current state of family life of young people and indicates a historical development of nuptality and fertility. In the practical part the focus is mainly on the analysis of the fundamental characteristics of family behavior after 1989. An integral part of my work is the research on the topic.
